"The Book Thief" Book Review (Fiction) (Finished)

The Book Thief  by, Markus Zusak is a breathtaking novel about a little girl during the holocaust who was sent to live with foster parents. towards the beginning of this book the looking girl is faced with hardship as her younger brother passes, but sadly this isn't the end. She then has to say goodbye to her mother as she leaves, and unbeknownst to her is the fact that she will never she her again.  The story is told form the point of view (POV) of an angel like figure. The angel's POV is fourth person omnipotent, meaning that the angel is all knowning. This style that is used makes the story unravel itself better compared to it if it was to be told in first or second POV. This book so far is nice and enjoyable and I would recommend it to a peer.

-Now that I finished this book I only have good things to say about it. Some parts are sad and others are sweet and joyful, but alltogether it is a nice soothing book. The story throughout takes many different forms and at first may seem confusing, but once accustomed to the writers style of writing this book is much easier to comprehend. This book isn't like most books about the Holocaust it takes a unusual view on it and shows it in a new perspective. As you read farther into the book you begin to understand more about the main characters and why they are doing what they do. This book was a nice read and I'm glad I chose it to read.

"American Roulette" Book Review (Non-Fiction)

American Roulette, by Richard Marcus, is a well-written book that gives the reader a thrill and an inside look on the past twenty-five years of Richard Marcus's life. He spent the majority of this time learning the best ways to beat the casinos at their own game and  then taught the skill to others. He started as a professional gambler with over $100,000 in casino winnings (that were won honestly) and he lost it all in one night leaving him at the bottom rung of Las Vegas. From this point Marcus rose to the top (again) never being arrested or charged for any of his scams or crimes that he committed in Vegas and throughout the worlds casinos. The style of writing used by Marcus makes you feel like your right next to him in the casino holding your breath, waiting to find out if this next cheat that you are witnessing will be his last.
I would recommend this to a peer it was exciting, interesting, and was a good read.
